Editor's review
This tool helps you read all the metadata about shots taken on digital cameras in EXIF standard.
The meta data about shots taken with a particular camera are quite useful often. The EXIF Spy is a free EXIF meta data viewer. Exchangeable Image File Format (EXIF) is a standard that specifies the formats for images and ancillary tags used by digital cameras. Smartphones, scanners and other hardware and software also use these tags/information. The image has the meta data embedded into the photo. This utility is able to extract the information and the interface displays the details. You are then able to read off the data. The interface is well organized and easy to understand. On the top left, you have the directory structure that shows how your photographs are organized. A set of thumbnails shows you the images being processed. The preview window shows the image currently selected.
A panel on the right one third of the interface area is set aside for the display of the parameters. This utility is able to read EXIF and other meta data from almost every known image type. RAW formats that are different for different cameras, it is still able to read most formats. Many different metadata formats including EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP, JFIF, GeoTIFF, ICC Profile, Photoshop IRB, FlashPix, AFCP and ID3, etc. Maker notes of different cameras are also available. These include maker notes of many digital cameras like Canon, FujiFilm, Kodak, Nikon, Olympus/Epson, Panasonic/Leica, Samsung, Sony, etc. This is a good product and could be very useful in many situations.
